Today is the day of the Chinese ‘Lup Chun’ which means the first day of Spring.
Officially this should be the first day of the Chinese New Year but it will be
celebrated on the 14th February 2010. But it has been like this for decades as
far as I could remember. First you have the ‘Lup Chun’ where my mother will
pray to the ancestral tablet and Chinese New Year will be around the corner.
Funny though, why not on the first day of Spring? Have to consult further the
elders regarding this issue.
According to hubby, who got the following information from the net by a famous
fung shui expert, you must step on grassy patch with your bare feet today from
early morning until 9am to soak up the special forces emited by the earth. It will
do you good, arthritics take note. Though I’m not a firm believer in this fung shui
thing but nevertheless I ran and jump on the grassy patch near my house this
morning. True or not, its harmless and I get to do some exercise or maybe soak
in some good chi.
Also, you can balance eggs or make them stand upright today at 12 noon. So,
exactly at noon I tried balancing some eggs on my kitchen table but they
would not stand up. Trying them near my window was unsuccessful too.
Believing that the earth’s garvity would be stronger outside, I tried one and in
no time I got to stand several eggs. Even my neighbor was excited and we
started snapping pics after pics to show to our friends and family.
But searching the web to explain this egg-stand, I was literally brought down to
Earth by their scientific claims .
Oh well, sometimes a little myth will bring some excitement in our mundane life
rather than a rational explanation for everything.
